Karawaci, 10 December - The final round of the Grand Final of the 2015 Indonesian Golf Tour (IGT) presented by LINC Group really presented a fight that could be considered the "peak" of the IGT journey during the year. The Grand Final champion could only be determined after extended drama (play-off). The actors being Benita Y. Kasiadi, Ian Andrew, and 2014 champion Rinaldi Adiyandono. All three had an equal score of 208 (eight-under par) after completing the final round, therefore a play-off was unavoidable.
Ian Andrew eventually established himself as the champion of the Grand Final of the Indonesian Golf Tour presented by LINC Group in 2015, held at Imperial Klub Golf, Karawaci Tangerang. A birdie from a distance of about two meters established the 27-year-old golfer as Indonesia's best golfer this season, while Benita and Rinaldi were only able to make par.
"I intentionally attacked the pin at the third shot, because I could Benita's ball was just half a meter from the pin. But, as it turned out my ball fell in front of the pin. Therefore, I was forced to attempt to make a birdie, and it worked!" said Ian, who was determined to win this Grand Final.
Ian completed the last round with a score of 70 (two-under par), maintaining his position atop the leaderboard that he shared with Rinaldi in the second round. However, Ian admitted he was worried to see Benita's game during the final round.
"At 17 I already lost hope, when I made bogey and Rinaldi scored birdie, leaving me behind by one stroke of Benita and Rinaldi who both were at eight-under par. They had a chance (to win) at hole 18, I was just determined to make birdie on the final hole. Fortunately, they failed to birdie the hole," said Ian, who took home a cash prize of Rp 48.000.000. "But Benita was remarkable today. He should have scored at least 10-under par. Unfortunately for him some of his short putts did not go in."
It looked like Benita played flawless. Without scoring a single bogey, the winner of three titles at the IGT 2015 series could match the total score of Ian and Rinaldi after carding a round of 66 (six-under par).
"My goal today was to finish at eight-under par. Therefore my target was reached. I didn't think of becoming champion as the second day I played very poorly. That's why I did not set that target. When I could compete for the play-offs, I thought this to be my best achievement after successfully reaching my target of eight-under par," said Benita.
Rinaldi, who failed to defend his title in the Grand Final, was not too disappointed with the final result at the play-offs, although he had a great opportunity to win. He considered the Grand Final as a try out for himself before plunging to the level of the Asian Tour next season.
"This becomes my stepping stone, because my main target is the Asian Tour Q-School in Thailand. This tournament can forge me mentally as well as my game, so that I can reach my peak at the time of Q-School," said Rinaldi.
He therefore was happy that Ian could win the Grand Final. For him, this indicates that the ability of several national professional golfers started to become more evenly, so that winners are not limited to one or two people. He saw his and other golfers overall score has improved in the past year.
"In my opinion, the implementation of IGT last season started a process of which we can see the results in improvements this season. As golfer we become more mature, and our competitive spirit becomes more visible," he added.
In addition to the announcement of the winner, during the Grand Final of the 2015 Indonesian Golf Tour (IGT) presented by LINC Group awards were also to the sponsors and golf courses that have supported the smooth implementation of the IGT season 2015. Some media also received attention and awards for their coverage of IGT 2015,
In the amateur category, Cahyo Adhitomo finally won the low amateur. The excellent play Cahyo displayed the day before did not make him waste this opportunity. On the final day Bobby, as he is usually called, completed his round with a score of 71 (one-under par), for an accumulated score of 215 (one-under par). Cahyo outperformed runner-up Dicky Prionggo by seven shots.
While for the ladies amateurs, Putri Aisha Amani won the battle with Michela Tjan through count back, and won the Low Amateur for ladies. Putri, who posted a score of 79 (seven over par) and Michela who today played with a score of 80 equally accumulated a total score of 239 (23-over par). The winner was decided by count back, based on final day scores made by both players over a number of predetermined holes.

Benita Kasiadi Takes Second Title At IGT @ Gading Raya
JAKARTA, July 9 - Do not give up until the last ball is being played. This motto was representative for Benita Y. Kasiadi appearance in the final round of the Indonesian Golf Tour Series IV, which took place from July 7 to 9 at Gading Raya Padang Golf & Klub, Serpong, Tangerang. Starting the final round 3 shots behind leader Rinaldi Adiyandono, he even fell behind as much as six strokes after the first nine holes. He finally caught up pace gradually until it he equaled Rinaldi's score at the final hole. Both accumulated a score of ten-under par (206).
This fight is reminiscent of the duel the duo fought in the Grand Final of the Indonesian Golf Tour presented by Linc Group 2014 at Imperial Klub Golf in December last year. The difference that that time Rinaldi won the final with a one-shot lead over Benita.
This time, the duel was repeated. With the winner being determined through the play-offs. Rinaldi missed a ball from a distance of 2 meters for a birdie putt to clinch victory with his first putt. He also missed his second putt which would have forced a second play-off hole. He had to finish with a three putt making bogey.
In contrary Benita recorded a par to take his second title at the 2015 IGT. It became a memorable victory for Benita when winning in IGT Series I at the Matoa Nasional Golf Club, Ciganjur, mid January. This time, he did not predict he would win, including bringing home the prize money of Rp32 million.
"The target is still to play by managing the course. Play 4-5 under. If not winning so be it. That means the opponent is better," said the son of Indonesian golf legend, Kasiadi.
On the second nine holes, Rinaldi made a bogey on hole 13. That put the difference between the two players at 3 shots, Rinaldi at 11-under and Benita at 8-under. Rinaldi tripped again on hole 16 for another bogey, while he only made par on holes 17 and 18. Benita actually posted two birdies in these hole. That meant play-offs had to be done, which was then won by Benita.
In the finishing shots of the game Rinaldi choked up. "I was shaking when hitting putts of two meters in the play-offs. I do not know why. In fact, I've been focused with my game plan. Did not think about a tie or play-off," said Rinaldi.
Meanwhile, in the amateurs, Tirto Tamardi established himself as the best in IGT 2015 Series IV. The golfer, who just fulfilled the task of representing his country at the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore, posted a total score of one-over par after closing the game on the final day with a two-in under par (70).
"I am quite satisfied with today's game, although my putting shots must be improved again," said the bronze medalist for the SEA Games team in 2015.
Tirto admitted this tournament series is a major influence in his game. "Participating in the IGT can improve you game, and gain knowledge from professionals," he said. He did not target anything when appearing in this professional event. "It becomes a means for self-evaluation," said the golfer born 8 April 1999.
The opportunity to learn from professionals was felt directly by Clement Kurniawan who played for the first time in the IGT and who became second runner up in IGT Series IV. Playing with Rory Hie for three days, Clement learned interesting things.
"A lot of knowledge that can be taken from Rory Hie. He was calmer, and learn how he hits. My first experience in IGT provides many positive lessons before I go back to America today. Hopefully next year I can join IGT again and win the tournament," he said.
Indonesian Golf Tour Series V will be held in Jababeka Golf & Country Club, Cikarang, on August 11 to 13.

Indonesia PGA Championship Returns To BSD
Jakarta, May 5 = The Indonesia PGA Championship will showcase the leading players from OneAsia and the Japan Golf Tour Organisation (JGTO) when it returns to the award-winning Damai Indah Golf – Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) this year.
The tournament, which was inaugurated with great success in 2011, will be jointly sanctioned by OneAsia and the JGTO for the third successive year and form part of an exciting swing on both circuits.
Damai Indah Golf – BSD Course, which boasts the first Jack Nicklaus-designed course in Indonesia, will host the tournament from July 30 to August 2.
Japan’s Michio Matsumura birdied the last three holes to win the Indonesia PGA Championship March last year. The 31-year-old posted rounds of 65, 67, 67 and 68 to finish 21-under-par and claim the US$180,000 first prize.
“This will be the fourth staging of the Indonesia PGA Championship under the OneAsia banner and we have seen it grow in stature during that time,” said Johannes Dermawan, Chairman of the PGA Tour of Indonesia.
“We witnessed a thrilling finish last year involving players from Japan, Australia, the Philippines and China reflecting the cosmopolitan makeup of the field. The Indonesia PGA Championship also affords several local players the opportunity to test themselves against Australasia’s finest and gives fans the chance to see top-quality golf.”
OneAsia Commissioner and Chairman Sung Y. Chun said that the partnership with the JGTO had borne fruit at the Indonesia PGA Championship.
“The presence of leading players from the JGTO at the Indonesia PGA Championship has taken the tournament to a new level and bred a healthy rivalry with our members,” he said.
“I am confident that the Indonesia PGA Championship will once again play an important role in the OneAsia season.”
Damai Indah Golf, the brainchild of well-known Indonesian real estate developer and business baron, Ir. Ciputra, consists of two international championship courses in completely different and challenging surroundings: BSD Course, located in the West Java satellite city of BSD; and PIK Course, located along the Java Sea in North Jakarta.
Among Jakarta golfers the BSD Course is commonly referred to as BSD. It is situated alongside the impressive Cisadane River that is back-dropped by the up-market housing estates of Bumi Serpong Damai.
Korean Choi Ho-sung drained an eight-foot birdie putt on the final hole for a two-stroke victory in the Indonesian PGA Championship at Emeralda Golf Club in 2013.
And in 2011, Australian Andre Stolz beat Indonesian number one Rory Hie by one shot at Imperial Klub Golf.

Turner Holds On To Win Linc Group Jakarta Classic At Imperial Klub Golf
Jakarta, July 18 - Niall Turner of Ireland survived a bumpy final round to win his first Asian Development Tour (ADT) title after posting a one-over-par 73 at the US$60,000 Linc Group Jakarta Classic on Friday.
The 30-year-old Turner held a five-shot lead heading into the last day but had to fend off the strong challenge from Englishman Peter Richardson before winning by one shot with a 10-under-par 278 total at the Imperial Klub Golf.
Richardson, who has one ADT victory, settled for second following a 69 while Thai talent Annop Tangkamolprasert ended his campaign in third position after shooting a 68 for a 281 total.
Turner dropped two bogeys on holes two and three but swiftly recovered with two birdies before the turn. A bogey on 14 narrowed the Irishman’s lead to one but he held on to his narrow advantage to win the second edition of the Linc Group Jakarta Classic.
The victory was exceptionally sweet for Turner who had been struggling with a hip injury in the last three years.
“I really needed this win. It has been quite grim in the last few years because I had a bad hip injury since 2011. That was the only thing holding me back. I was born with a defect in my hip and had to go through some surgery. My hip feels great now although I had to make slight changes in my swing.
“Winning a tournament really gives you the confidence. It will be an important few weeks on the ADT and I really want to get back on the Asian Tour. Hopefully I can stay healthy and continue my form,” said Turner, who won US$10,500 and earned six Official World Golf Ranking points.
Richardson, who was bogey-free in his last 45 holes, held his head high after pushing Turner to the limits, but he was disappointed not to take the outright win or force a play-off when he returned with four straight pars.
“I played great without any bogeys. I had a few birdies and put him under pressure. I was close but I couldn’t quite make the putts when I needed to. I had chances on the last four holes to make birdies but didn’t quite get the line or pace right.
“My goal was try to put him under pressure and I did. I’m pleased with the way I played and fought out there,” said the Englishman, who won his first ADT title in Malaysia in 2012.
I Ketut Sugiarta was the the only local player able to make it into the top 10, sharing the final spot with Australian Jordan Sherratt.

Turner Overturns Leaderboard On Day Three Of Linc Group Jakarta Classic
Jakarta, July 17 - Niall Turner of Ireland fired an impressive five-under-par 67 to seize a commendable five-shot lead without a proper warm-up session in the third round of the Linc Group Jakarta Classic on Thursday.
The towering Irishman woke up an hour before his tee time and dashed to the Imperial Klub Golf, located 10 minutes from his hotel, just in time to hit some balls before heading out for the penultimate round in the US$60,000 Asian Development Tour (ADT) event.
The morning rush worked wonders for Turner as he returned with a flawless round for an 11-under-par 205 total to put himself in prime position to win his first ADT title. Englishman Peter Richardson was in second following a 68 while overnight leader Brett Munson of the United States slipped to third with a 75.
The 30-year-old Turner jolted straight into action when he opened with a chip-in birdie from 20 feet before going on to add two more birdies in each half.
“I was lucky today! Waking up at 6.55am (local time) and I had a tee time at 8. Thankfully the golf course was close to my hotel or I would have been in trouble,” he laughed.
“I got off to a perfect start and that got me on the right foot. From there I played really good and I’m in a great position. It will take something special to beat me so I’m going out there to play like how I’ve been playing,” said Turner.
Richardson birdied the last hole to cap a solid bogey-free round. The Englishman, who finished third on the 2012 Order of Merit, is aiming to claim his second ADT title since 2012.
“It was a good round. It is nice to have a bogey-free round. A lot my rounds have been with a lot of birdies and bogeys. If Niall keeps playing the way he has then he has a good chance to win. I can only control my game but I hope to shoot a good score and put some pressure on him,” said Richardson.

Munson Holds On To Lead In Linc Group Jakarta Classic
Jakarta, July 16 - Brett Munson of the United States maintained his lead at the halfway stage of the US$60,000 Linc Group Jakarta Classic after shooting a three-under-par 69 on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old Munson stayed in front of the chasing pack with an eight-under-par 136 total to hold a one shot advantage from Englishman Grant Jackson, who returned with a 68 at the Imperial Klub Golf.
Niall Turner of Ireland and Mathiam Keyser of South Africa were a further shot back in tied third on 138 while Japan’s Konosuke Nakazato, Michael Moore of Australia, I Ketut Sugiarta of Indonesia and Shang Zhi of China shared fifth place on 141.
Munson was even-par at the turn before shooting three birdies on his homeward nine to put himself in good position to seal his second victory on the burgeoning Tour, which is the gateway to the Asian Tour.
“I played consistently but I need to eliminate the three putts because I had one each day. It is a good feeling to have when you are at the top of the leaderboard but we are only halfway through the tournament. I’m still going out there to take one shot at a time,” said Munson.
The American believes that the confidence gained when he won his first Asian Development Tour (ADT) title in Malaysia in March will put him in good stead against the talented cast gathered at the Linc Group Jakarta Classic.
“Once you’ve won, you have proven it to yourself that you can win and it gives you some confidence. Hopefully I can continue my form,” added Munson, who is ranked third on the Order of Merit.
Jackson charged up the leaderboard with seven birdies against three bogeys highlighted by a huge 40-feet birdie putt on the par three fifth hole. The Englishman was delighted that his hard work during the break is starting to pay off.
“This is a position where I want to be. I’m coming here with the mind set of winning and this is a good position to be in. I trained a lot using the TrackMan Golf device and the Aimpoint Express. My putting and hitting have improved so I’m pleased with my game and results so far,” said Jackson, who has one ADT victory.
The halfway cut was set at five-over-par 149 with a total of 56 players progressing into the final two rounds.
This season, the ADT will reward the top five players on the final Order of Merit with playing rights for the 2015 Asian Tour season. Previously, the top-three players were offered Asian Tour cards since the ADT’s launch in 2010.

Soewarno In Pursuit After Day One Of Linc Group Jakarta Classic
Jakarta, July 15 - Brett Munson of the United States got off to a hot start when he returned with a flawless five-under-par 67 to take the opening round lead at the Linc Group Jakarta Classic on Tuesday.
England’s Grant Jackson, local hope K. Soewarno and Annop Tangkamolprasert of Thailand trailed the leader by two shots in tied-second place after carding matching 69s at the Imperial Klub Golf.
Local prospects Benny Kasiadi and Ian Andrew were a further shot back in tied-fifth place alongside American Jeff Lai, Niall Turner of Ireland and South African Mathiam Keyser at the US$60,000 Asian Development Tour (ADT) event, which is the ninth stop on the ADT this year.
Title holder James Bowen of the United States will have to make up ground after carding a 75 to take a share of 48th place.
Having missed out on the opportunity to earn an Asian Tour card at the Qualifying School earlier this year, Munson decided to turn his attention to the ADT where he won his first victory in March and secured one other top-five result.
Currently ranked third on the ADT Order of Merit, Munson shot five birdies to kick start his campaign in Indonesia where he hopes to win a second victory on the burgeoning Tour which is the gateway to the premier Asian Tour.
“I played some solid golf. This course suits my game a lot. It’s good to be back on the ADT after a short break. I’ve been working on my game and it’s great to be playing well again after missing the cut in the previous tournament. Hopefully I can continue to do well over the next three days,” said the 27-year-old Munson.
Jackson, ranked 10th on the Order of Merit, kept chase for his first victory this season as he set his sights on making a move on the Merit list where the top five players at the end of the season will earn Asian Tour cards for 2015.
“I always try my best to win in every tournament I play. This week is no exception. I had a generally good round today. This week is the start of a series of events on the ADT. I hope to build up on my good form and secure a good result this week so that I can be in a good shape for the next few tournaments,” added Jackson.
Soewarno, who plays regularly on the domestic Tour, took advantage of the opportunity to play on the ADT this week and is hoping to continue his good run of form. The leading Indonesian stumbled with a double-bogey on the fourth but recovered swiftly with five birdies to put himself in contention after the first round of the Linc Group Jakarta Classic.
“My game was not too bad today. The wind got stronger in the afternoon but that didn’t really affect my game. I’m feeling pretty confident right now and I hope to keep up my good form,” said Soewarno.

Bowen Ready To Defend Jakarta Classic Title At Imperial Klub Golf
Jakarta, July 11 - Title holder James Bowen of the United States is ready to embark on a successful title defense when he returns to the Imperial Klub Golf for the Linc Group Jakarta Classic from July 15 to 18 (Tuesday to Friday) next week.
Bowen, a two-time winner on the Asian Development Tour (ADT), has received a timely confidence boost following his victory on the domestic Tour in Jakarta last week.
The talented American is in fine form ahead of the US$60,000 Linc Group Jakarta Classic, which is the ADT’s first stop in Indonesia this season.
Bowen claimed his second ADT victory at the inaugural Linc Group Jakarta Classic last year and eventually finished second on the final Order of Merit, earning him an Asian Tour card for the 2014 season.
“I am very excited coming back to Jakarta and very much looking forward to defending my title. Last week’s win was really pleasing. I’ve been working on my swing for a while now and seems like it’s finally paying off,” said the confident 28-year-old.
Bowen remains optimistic with his game despite a disappointing start to the 2014 Asian Tour season where he has yet to make a single cut.
“It’s been a slow start for me this season but I’m starting to feel good about my game after winning last week. I think my current game is good and I’m ready to play next week,” added Bowen.
Order of Merit leader and three-time ADT winner Chan Shih-chang of Chinese Taipei, past winners Pavit Tangkamolprasert of Thailand and American Brett Munson, as well as Indonesia’s George Gandranata and Rory Hie will also feature in the Linc Group Jakarta Classic.

George Gandranata Seeks Maiden Win On Asian Development Tour
Jakarta, July 10 - Highly-rated George Gandranata of Indonesia, who impressed with three victories on the local circuit in the last three months, will be looking to secure a fourth title on home soil and his first on the Asian Development Tour (ADT) when the Linc Group Jakarta Classic gets underway next week.
The talented Indonesian will be amongst an international cast of talents from over 18 countries vying for honors at the US$60,000 ADT event, which is returning to the Imperial Klub Golf for its second edition from July 15 to 18 (Tuesday to Friday) next week.
Gandranata will be joined by compatriot Rory Hie and title holder James Bowen of the United States at the Linc Group Jakarta Classic, which is the ninth stop on the burgeoning circuit this season. Bowen claimed another victory in Jakarta last week where he played on sponsor’s invite.
Since joining the play-for-pay ranks in 2012, Gandranata has been striving to perform well on the premier Asian Tour as well as the ADT. He came close to claiming his first ADT title at the 2013 season-ending event earlier in January before settling for second place behind Thailand’s Pavit Tangkamolprasert.
The 28-year-old has been showing strong support for his domestic circuit by playing most of the tournaments on the newly established Professional Golf Tour of Indonesia (PGTI). His move has yielded great returns as he finally claimed his first professional victory in April. He went on to secure two other local victories in May and June respectively.
“The PGTI is a new domestic Tour and I hope I can lend my support to them whenever I can to help it grow. The best way to show my support is to play in these events.
Having won three titles recently was a blessing but golf is still golf. We will never know what to expect. All we can do is to prepare as much as we can,” said Gandranata.
Gandranata hailed the return of the Linc Group Jakarta Classic which he believes will be a great opportunity for the local players as it is an international event.
“The Linc Group Jakarta Classic will be a good tournament for us. All international events in Indonesia are great opportunities for us to showcase our capabilities. I will work on my game plan and hopefully I can get the desirable results,” added Gandranata, who is playing in his first ADT event of the season next week.
The ADT Order of Merit race will also resume next week following a one-month mid-season break. Chan Shih-chang of Chinese Taipei leads the rankings on US$28,816, courtesy of two victories this season.
This season, the ADT will reward the top five players on the final Order of Merit with playing rights for the 2015 Asian Tour season. Previously, the top-three players were offered Asian Tour cards since the ADT’s launch in 2010.

New Home For Indonesia PGA Championship In 2014
JAKARTA, Dec 18 - The Indonesia PGA Championship will be played at the Damai Indah Golf – Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) course for the first time next year as part of an exciting early-season swing on OneAsia.
The picturesque venue, the first Jack Nicklaus-designed course in Indonesia, will host the U.S. $1 million tournament from March 27 - 30, and for the second successive year will be joint sanctioned by the Japan Golf Tour Organisation (JGTO).
The tournament tees off a week after the Thailand Open, also a OneAsia and JGTO event, which will be played from March 13 to 16.
“Damai Indah Golf – Bumi Serpong Damai course is thrilled to welcome the 2014 Indonesia PGA Championship,” said Christine Wiradinata, Director, Damai Indah Golf.
“We are firmly established as one of Indonesia’s premier golf courses, well known for staging world class tournaments. Our Jack Nicklaus championship course will provide an outstanding layout for some of the world’s finest players.”
The brainchild of well-known Indonesian real estate developer and business baron Ir. Ciputra, Damai Indah Golf consists of two international championship courses in completely different and challenging surroundings. Bumi Serpong Damai — known to local golfers as "BSD" — is located in the West Java satellite city of the same name, while Pantai Indah Kapuk is along the Java Sea in North Jakarta.
BSD is situated alongside the impressive Cisadane River that is framed by the upmarket housing estates of Serpong.
“The Indonesia PGA Championship together with our friends at the Japan Golf Tour Organisation and the world class Damai Indah Golf course will combine to help launch another great year on OneAsia,” said OneAsia Commissioner and Chairman Sang Y. Chun.
Next year is the sixth season of OneAsia and marks the third staging of the Indonesia PGA Championship.
“This year the Japan Golf Tour Organisation enjoyed an excellent start to the season by joint-sanctioning the Indonesia PGA Championship and Thailand Open with OneAsia and we look forward to a repeat of this in 2014,” said Katsuji Ebisawa, Chairman, JGTO.
In March, Korean Choi Ho-sung survived a dramatic three-hour storm delay on the final hole and drained an eight-foot birdie putt for a two-stroke victory in the Indonesian PGA Championship at Emeralda Golf Club.
At the inaugural event in 2011, Australian Andre Stolz beat Indonesian number one Rory Hie by a shot at Imperial Klub Golf.

Jakarta, July 20 - James Bowen of the United States savored a memorable week when he posted a final round two-under-par 70 to claim his second Asian Development Tour (ADT) title at the inaugural Jakarta Classic on Saturday.
The American totaled 12-under-par 276 to edge out Chinese Taipei’s Chan Shih-chang by two shots despite making bogeys on the second and 14th holes at the Imperial Klub Golf.
Chan, who was the first round leader, mixed his card with six birdies and two bogeys to settle for second place while Australian Darren Tan recorded a 71 for third place finish at the US$60,000 ADT event.
England’s Grant Jackson, a one-time winner on the ADT, and Malaysia’s Arie Fauzi took a share of fourth place after posting scores of 70 and 72 respectively at the Jakarta Classic, which is the seventh leg on the ADT schedule this season.
Best Indonesian player was Rory Hie, who finished in a tie for 7th place after a final round 70. Andik Mauludin (71) finished 3 shots further back in a tie for 12th, one shot ahead of Benny Kasiadi (72) who's in a tie for 15th. George Gandranata (77), who was in 7th place after round 3 dropped to a tie for 22nd after making more bogeys in his final round than the first rounds combined.
Bowen has been in commanding form all week since he took over the lead from Chan after the second round.
“I’m feeling great. Winning two professional titles in a year is a great accomplishment for me. It really means a great deal to me. I feel like my hard work is finally paying off,” said the 27-year-old, who traded four birdies and two bogeys.
“I had a great boost in confidence and I’m very excited about the remaining season ahead. It would be great if I can win again before the season ends,” added Bowen, who is hoping to earn his Asian Tour card for 2014 by finishing top three on the ADT Order of Merit at the end of the season.
Bowen, who earned US$10,500 for his victory, will take over the lead on the ADT Order of Merit from Malaysia’s Nicolas Fung.
The American will also receive six Official World Golf Ranking points courtesy of his triumph this week.
Meanwhile, Chan could not help but feel disappointed about missing out on his maiden ADT win after posting a brilliant final round 68.
However, he is still optimistic and confident of doing better in the remaining season ahead.

I will continue to work hard and hopefully I can play better next time!” said Chan, who topped his country’s Order of Merit in 2010.
The top three players to finish on the ADT Order of Merit will earn their Asian Tour cards for 2014.
Starting this season, all ADT events will receive Official World Golf Ranking points which will help players qualify for the World Cup of Golf in November and the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Gandranata On A Charge In Jakarta Classic At Imperial Klub Golf
Jakarta, July 19 - James Bowen of the United States cemented his lead atop the leaderboard when he carded a third round two-under-par 70 to extend his advantage to three at the inaugural Jakarta Classic on Friday.
Bowen, who held the overnight lead, compiled a three-day total of 10-under-par 206 to enjoy a three-shot cushion over Australian Darren Tan and Arie Fauzi of Malaysia as he heads into the final round at the Imperial Klub Golf.
Tan and Arie, who recently turned professional in April, signed for matching 209s to take a share of second place while Chinese Taipei’s Chan Shih-chang, who was leading after the first day, carded a 70 to take fourth place.
England’s Grant Jackson slipped three places from second to fifth when he returned with a 73 at the US$60,000 Asian Development Tour (ADT) event.
George Gandranata, who is currently the highest placed Indonesian on the ADT Order of Merit, is looking to solidify this position after climbing 15 places to 7th place with a round of 68. One shot further back is Rory Hie who put in a solid 71. Four more Indonesians are in the top 25, with Maan Nasim (70), Benny Kasiadi (74) and Andik Mauludin (74) in a share of 16th and Ade Sebul (74) in a share of 24th place.
Bowen, who is currently second on the ADT Order of Merit, was delighted with his commanding performance which he described as a huge confidence booster.
“I’m glad I gave myself a lot of chances today. I didn’t make any mistakes today and I had a bogey-free round which was a huge confidence boost for me,” said Bowen.
“I hope I can enjoy a solid round again tomorrow. I will try and stick to my original game plan and we will see what happens,” added the 27-year-old.
Having claimed his maiden ADT breakthrough earlier this year, the American remains on course to seal his second title and potentially a spot on the region’s premier Tour at the end of the season.
The top three players to finish on the ADT Order of Merit will earn their Asian Tour cards for 2014.
Meanwhile Tan credited his recent good form for giving him the honor of recording the day’s lowest score of 67.
“I think I’ve just had my best ball-striking round today. I played my wedge shots well too. I’m really happy with my game. Hopefully, I can hole more putts tomorrow,” said Darren, who marked his blemish-free card with five birdies.
Tan once hogged the spotlight on the Asian Tour when he won a Kia Optima K5 after carding a hole-in-one during the second round of ISPS Handa Singapore Classic in 2012.

Starting this season, all ADT events will receive Official World Golf Ranking points which will help players qualify for the World Cup of Golf in November and the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Winners on the ADT will receive a minimum of six world ranking points while the top six players and ties will earn points based on a sliding scale.

Jakarta, July 18 - American James Bowen posted a second round six-under-par 66 to move atop the leaderboard at the halfway stage of the inaugural Jakarta Classic on Thursday.
The 27-year-old, who opened his campaign with a 70, fired seven birdies against one bogey to lead the field with a two-day total of eight-under-par 136 at the Imperial Klub Golf.
England’s Grant Jackson, who returned with the day’s lowest score of 65, trailed the American by two shots to take second place while Singapore’s Koh Deng Shan and overnight leader, Chan Shih-chang of Chinese Taipei shared third place after signing for matching 140s at the US$60,000 Asian Development Tour (ADT) event.

“I made a lot of putts today and I drove the ball pretty well. There was no wind in the morning and the course was kind of wet but overall, it was in a good shape. I’m really pleased with the way I putted today,” said a delighted Bowen, who stayed on track for his second ADT win after claiming his breakthrough in Malaysia earlier this year.
“The season has been great for me so far. I’ve been in contention several times this year and my golf game has been pretty consistent. I think this has got to be the best season that I’ve had so far,” added the American.
Meanwhile Jackson, who clinched his first ADT victory in Malaysia in April, is pleased with his recent good run of form.
The Englishman is targeting a top-three finish on the ADT Order of Merit at the end of the season as that would allow him to earn his Asian Tour card for 2014.
“I gave myself some chances and I played nicely today. The greens were tricky and the course was wet. I actually felt like I was playing on a different course as compared to yesterday!” said Jackson, who mixed his card with seven birdies, one eagle and two bogeys.
“I’m very excited about my weekend rounds. I think it’s going to be very interesting! I’ll try to enjoy myself out there and hopefully I can continue to play solid over the next two days,” smiled Jackson.
The halfway cut was set at five-over-par with 57 players, including 16 Indonesians, advancing to the final two rounds.

Johannes Dermawan One Shot Of The Lead In First Round Of Jakarta Classic At Imperial Klub Golf
Jakarta, July 17 - Chan Shih-chang of Chinese Taipei shot a five-under-par 67 to snatch the opening round lead at the inaugural US$60,000 Jakarta Classic at the Imperial Klub Golf on Wednesday.
Chan posted a bogey-free round that was highlighted by five birdies to take a one-shot lead over Indonesia’s Johannes Dermawan and Malaysia’s Arie Fauzi who posted matching 68s at the Asian Development Tour (ADT) event.
England’s Shaun Malone carded a 69 to secure the fourth place while American James Bowen, Indonesia’s Andik Mauludin, Australia’s Jake Stirling and Japan’s Mitsuhiko Hashizume are bunched in equal fifth place on matching 70s at the Jakarta Classic, which is the seventh leg on the ADT schedule.
“Overall, I’m very happy with how I played today. I shot a total of five birdies and did not make a single bogey,” said Chan, who is playing in his first event (of the year) on the ADT, which is the feeder circuit to the premier Asian Tour.
Chan topped his country’s Order of Merit in 2010 and has been touted as the next generation of stars to emerge from Chinese Taipei following the likes of Asian Tour winners, Lin Wen-tang, Chan Yih-shin and Lu Wen-teh.
The 27-year-old believes his recent good run of form will provide him with a timely confidence boost as he goes in search of his maiden ADT win this week.
“I’m feeling good about my game. I’ve been in a good run of form lately and I played pretty well at a charity golf event back home last week. Hopefully I can continue to produce more good results this week,” said Chan.
Meanwhile Dermawan credited his solid iron play for an encouraging start to emerge as the leading local player after day one.
“My iron play was good today. My putts were not going in as much as I wanted them to on the front nine but luckily things got better on the back nine. I’m happy with my result today although my driving was not as solid,” said the father of two, who is also a current general manager of a golf club in Indonesia.
The top three players on the ADT Order of Merit at the end of the season will earn Asian Tour cards for the following year.
All ADT events in 2013 will be afforded with Official World Golf Ranking points, which is a great boost to players as it helps them to qualify for the World Cup of Golf in November and the 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro.
The winner of the Jakarta Classic will receive a total of six world ranking points while the top six players and ties will earn points based on a sliding scale.

Bowen Takes On Local Heroes At Imperial Klub Golf To Regain Top Spot In ADT
Jakarta, July 16 - American James Bowen hopes to make his return to the top of the Asian Development Tour (ADT) Order of Merit when he steps up to the tee at the inaugural Jakarta Classic which starts tomorrow.
The US$60,000 ADT event will be played at the Imperial Klub Golf and will feature leading players from Indonesia as well as an international mix of players from over 17 countries.
Bowen, who occupied pole position atop the rankings before being displaced by Malaysia’s Nicholas Fung when he won the PGM UMW Templer Park Masters last month, is determined to prove his worth again.
“The course is in a pretty good shape and I am very excited about coming to Indonesia and play at the inaugural Jakarta Classic this week. I feel good about my game and hopefully I can overtake Nicholas (Fung) to lead the ADT Order of Merit again,” said the confident American.
The 27-year-old claimed his maiden ADT victory at the PGM Sime Darby Harvard Masters in Malaysia earlier this year and is also looking forward to play his way back into the region’s premier Tour having missed out on his full playing rights on the Asian Tour at Qualifying School in January.
The top-three players on the Order of Merit at the end of the season will earn their Asian Tour cards for 2014.
Meanwhile Singapore’s Quincy Quek believes the key to doing well at the Jakarta Classic is to enjoy himself as he sets his target of winning his second ADT title following his breakthrough at the ICTSI Orchard Golf Championship in the Philippines last year.
“I’m looking to have fun this week. Imperial is a really nice course and I’ve always enjoyed playing here. I’m happy to have events to play while the Asian Tour is on a break. A win would definitely be a bonus,” said the 26-year-old Singaporean.
Quek’s best result on the ADT this year was a second-placed finish at the season-opening event in Malaysia. He also finished tied-12th at the Queen’s Cup on the Asian Tour last month.
“It’s great that the ADT has grown from strength to strength. It’s such a good platform for guys who don’t have a card on the main tour to gain exposure. I like the way the course is set up this week,” added Quincy.
Quek’s challenge will be put to test against a strong local field that includes Rory Hie,George Gandranata, Andik Mauludin and Benny Kasiadi.
The Jakarta Classic is the seventh leg on the ADT which is the feeder circuit to the Asian Tour.
All ADT events will receive Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points starting this year, which is a huge boost for players.
Winners on the ADT will receive a minimum of six world ranking points while the top-six players and ties will earn points based on a sliding scale.
The US$60,000 ADT event will be played at the Imperial Klub Golf and will feature leading players from Indonesia as well as an international mix of players from over 17 countries.
